Low molecular weight Alginic-acid
Alginic acid is composed of mannuronic acid that composes the cellular walls of brown algae and guluronic acid, which is a structural isomer of this substance.
▲ Polysaccharides among the carbohydrates contained in brown algae such as sea mustard, kelp and gulfweed, etc. are composed of alginic acid (approximately 15~40%), laminaran and fucoidan (3~5%), etc. on the basis of the dried products. Although the contents of alginic acid present in brown algae differ depending on the types of brown algae, regions and seasons, it is generally about 15%. Moreover, although the ratio of mannuronic acid and guluronic acid that compose alginic acid also differs depending on the types of the brown algae, it is in the range of 0.45~1.85
